Renato, What is your favorite part of working at EverChain?

It is difficult to say what my favorite part of the job would be, but it would include working on new projects and experimenting with new technologies to transform the receivables industry. I also enjoy the strategic aspects of the job, such as developing and implementing a company’s technology vision and roadmap, and the leadership aspect of the role, managing and mentoring a team of technology professionals.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are definitely on my short list since they can be used to improve the efficiency and accuracy of receivables management processes. AI and ML algorithms can analyze large amounts of financial data and make predictions or identify patterns that can help to automate and optimize receivables management tasks.

Blockchain technology also has my attention: a blockchain ensures that a ledger is secure and tamper-proof, which makes it an attractive option for recording and tracking financial transactions, which can help to improve the efficiency of the receivables process and reduce the risk of fraud.

I predict tighter government regulations as a driving factor to the wider adoption of technology and innovations in the industry. Hence an increase in investments in cybersecurity is expected. Commercially, the adoption of AI and ML to automate and optimize tasks tends to expand, consequently reducing the cost and errors associated with manual processing and improving the speed and accuracy of receivables management.

Success is directly related to achieving specific goals, professional or personal. Individuals have their own goals, some short-term, others long-term. The important thing to me is to celebrate them all, including the small ones.

Always strive to learn and grow, academically or personally, by educating yourself, reading, or trying new things. And while doing so, maintain a positive attitude, have a good work ethic, treat others with kindness and respect and build a strong support system of friends and family.

What advice would you give someone entering the receivables management industry?

Remember that you are dealing with consumers, i.e. people. Treat them with respect while performing your tasks.

I don’t know if I can single out one thing. I put my best in everything I do, from helping others to raising my children to going through my daily work. And even though things do not always go as expected, that doesn’t make me less proud.

Lately, I’ve been listening to Lex Fridman.

I have worked in different industries before (healthcare and mining), but any opportunity I have is dedicated to the non-profit I support — Fraternity Without Borders.

People would be surprised if they knew…

I have traveled to Africa to volunteer at a refugee camp.
